part I

I've decided to start a bit of a 'series', where, other than my fashion posts, I'm going to be showing some of my own photography on a daily basis. This is mainly photography and art work which I have created over the last two years and, a lot of it, is stuff I have used for my A-Level Photography and Art course. I'm going to be writing a little bit about the inspiration and the shoot itself.

I thought I would start off with one of my favourite shoots, which was long in the planning before me and my friend both found time to do it. The idea behind it is based on Jenny Saville's grotesque 'squished-against-glass' style and Yves Klein's use of blue. I shot the photos through a window, which, at first, I thought was stupid because I wanted the skin to look flawless and shadow-free, but after editing the images, I came to love the different patterns you can see on the model's skin, which make them so much more interesting.
To create the blue pictures, I squeezed blue acrylic paint on the window, and mixed this with water to create a more sheer surface. I liked the way the skin and the limbs of my friend took some of the paint off the window and created different patterns which enhanced the photographs.
Overall, a great shoot with one of my closest friends, what more could I want?
